Ann Arbor Wedding Adventure

This past weekend was spent in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the wedding of Joe's brother, Nick and his wife, Keli.
They have a great story: After getting married in Germany two years ago while they were living there, they decided to have a big American wedding bash with all of their family an friends. And a bash it was!

We got into Ann Arbor on Thursday and spent Friday morning and afternoon exploring. Joe and I both love college towns and taking in all of the local, unique shops and university life. Firstly, we went to Zingerman's, famed deli and bakery. It did not disappoint! Then we strolled around Michigan's beautiful campus while enjoying the break from the Texas heat.

That evening, there was a picnic for all wedding goers where Isaac got to see a lot of people he hadn't seen in a long time and meet many others for the first time. We also finally got to meet Keli's family, who we have heard so much about over the years, and they were as good as advertized!

 

Most notably he got to meet Aunt Keli aka the Bride! They were instant friends.

 

He also got to partake in some of the delicious food. 

On Saturday, after a morning play date with the groom, it was wedding time!

They got married at a gorgeous venue that used to be owned by Henry Ford in Saline, MI.  And, of course, the weather was perfect.

Isaac was mesmerized by Keli's dress, flowers, the whole thing. He would've stared at her for an hour if I would've let him. I just love these pictures.

And then caught a quick cat nap before all of the fun began.

Isaac was kept quiet during the ceremony by keeping him on a steady diet of paper products - his favorite!

Afterward, we got to spend some time with Joe's great Uncle Sal and great Aunt Rita, the patriarch and matriarch of the Licata Clan. They have been very important influences in Joe's life and we were so glad that they made the trip all the way from South Florida.

The rest of the night was a lot of chowing down, catching up and dancing. Although Isaac and I had to duck out early, he got to visit many laps and finally fell asleep dancing with Grandpa.

Overall, such a fun weekend! I just love weddings and this one was very special. This being our first big travel with Isaac we weren't sure how he was going to do, but he was an angel on the flights, adjusted so well to his new environment and gave big smiles to all of his new friends.
