Uncle Mike's football team made a run deep into the playoffs that led all the way to the State Championship game! We were fortunate that some of the games were held close enough for an easy drive. Isaac loved the games: seeing family, people watching, watching football players up close, and listening to the band. He loved it all with one major exception - the mascot! While others were cheering for the team, cries of "don't like it, eagle!" and "all done, eagle!" could be heard throughout the stadium coming from Isaac's tiny yet booming mouth.
Sounds like A&M, a school with a real-life dog for a mascot, would be a good fit for him.
Hiding from the mascot behind Mommy and Emma Kate.
There was also plenty of football to watch on TV. While watching, he would run around in circles and throw himself to the ground, announcing "tackle!" Plenty of cheers for Johnny Football and "go Aggies!" could be heard, as well. I don't think he's quite ready for a game at Kyle Field yet, but he loves his Aggies nonetheless.
After touring our neighborhood's Christmas decorations and visiting the inflatable Santa Claus and Christmas-themed Mickey Mouse (seen as non-menacing and innocuous yard art below), Isaac decided that they were not for him. So all day everyday he was sure to remind us that "Don't like it! Don't like it, Mickey Mouse. Don't like it, that man." Once I told him that "that man" was named Santa, he included that, as well. Add to this the fact that Santa existed not only in the yard down the street but also at every home and establishment we visited, and you have yourself for a recipe for Santa-induced anxiety. Lesson learned: nothing can crush one's Christmas spirit faster than having a toddler say "Don't like it, Santa!" like a broken record.
The perpetrators
Luckily, there were occasional reprieves from the Santa madness. Like a visit from Bibi and early Christmas presents.
And business as usual with trucks and dirt.
The result of a day spent digging in the mud.
