It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

We started off our Halloween festivities with a pumpkin purchase, and consequently, found out how much Isaac loved his "pom-keens".  Love, however, can be a complicated emotion that can bring with it jealousy, contempt and letdown. Isaac wanted to tote the pumpkin around the house and was heartily disappointed to discover that he did not possess the physical capability.
Oh Pumpkin, you unattainable temptress!

So back to the store we went to retrieve an Isaac-sized gourd.
 He was pleased.
But not so pleased as to forget about his one true love.

Next came the carving, which he also loved. He didn't want to touch the innards, but was very happy for me to place the goop onto his shovel.
And, inevitably, he somehow shed his clothing during the process.

The celebration continued with a surprise package from Grandma and Grandpa. Isaac thought that the surprise was a single packing peanut.
Mine! All mine!
Once I gave him a gentle nudge back in the direction of the box, he eventually discovered that there was more to be found.
He surveyed his loot with glee: a card, two shirts, raisins, a pumpkin bucket with native Washington pine cones and a handmade book with lots of pictures that he's asked to read no fewer than 5 times a day.
The pine cones are still growing on him.
His old pal, Mr. Raisin, was welcomed with open arms (and mouth).
Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa!

Then we hit up some Halloween parties.
In true Isaac fashion, he refused any sort of cooperation for a seated group picture.
Not even when Mom was brought in...
Oh well, we'll try again next year.

When it came time to go trick-or-treating, he was extremely excited. Not because he knew what was going on, but because we told him we were going to go on a walk in the neighborhood: his favorite.
Ok seriously, can we go now?

After just a little bit of instruction, and girl putting a Hershey's bar in his bucket, he was an old pro.
He loved looking at the other kids' costumes and proudly filling up his bucket. Since he still doesn't know what candy is, we let him collect some colorful wrappers and didn't bother with the candy eating process. Might as well hold off on that as long as we can!

After we tucked Isaac in bed, Joe and I sat out in our driveway with the fire pit burning and doled out treats to the older crowd. Hope everyone has as much fun as we did!
