Somos Licatas: 8 months

This past month feels as though it's been a series of bursts away from infancy for Isaac. Everyday he's doing something new, something bigger. Everything that he was almost doing last month, he's doing fully now: crawling, sitting up, pulling up, eating.

He has a great sense of humor. He loves to make us laugh and be in on jokes. Sometimes he'll just giggle to himself while playing or do something he knows is silly, like try to grab my bellybutton. He loves to show his excitement with his new "happy face" shown below.

And found laying on top of Daddy's head to be repeatedly hilarious.

With increased mobility has come greater emotional stability. He's much more even keel and is no longer easily frustrated as he can move about with ease and choose how he works. His brief tangle with apprehension in social situations seems to have dissipated, and although he likes to stick close to Mommy in loud or crowded situations, he's much more eager to interact with others. Lately, he's been chatting away to whoever will listen.

He continues to care little for gravity or its consequences. Always the daredevil, crawling is now a means to an end. He knows that walking will get him places faster and comes closer to it each day.

He's sleeping better but not great - a trait that his grandma says all geniuses have in common:) I don't know about his genius just yet, but he still loves books. He now proudly holds them himself and turns the pages while we read.

While he's never been a dough boy, his strength has really started to show. His cheeks are about the only soft baby part of his body. Try to touch anywhere else and you'll be met with solid muscle. No baby fat here, which is why Daddy calls him simply "Meat".

Baby-led weaning is going great. He loves food and is as excited and curious about mealtime as ever. While he' still has great affection for his liquid diet, he's also very demanding about table food. He wants what he wants and he wants it NOW. Like the other night when he yelled at me until I gave him some guacamole then he ate, ate and ate some more. His other favorites this month include celery, chicken, pot roast (another reason for his new nickname), watermelon, apple, green beans and any type of bread.
